Community

“What is the Kingdom of God like?”  Luke 13:18

Community is what we see in the relationship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  It is the relationship Jesus described to His disciples in John 17:20-23.

“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.  The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.”   John 17:20-23

Community represents communion and unity.  It is a oneness in the Godhead and an invitation to us.  The Spirit of God in the believer has called us to a oneness with the Father and with each other.  We can share all that Jesus is, in us and through us.

Community for us is a shared life that comes from the Father through Jesus and maintained by the presence of the Spirit in us.  This life permeates all that we are and manifests in a life lived through love.  Practically speaking it means as we commune with God, His life and love manifest through us so we can commune with one another.

“Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven…”

As a community of faith in Jesus, The Dwelling Place is a growing group of Kingdom travelers sharing their lives and demonstrating the Father’s love to each other and the world around them.  We share the world’s ups and downs, we laugh together and cry together, we nurture and care for needs, we accept, love and encourage, we worship together and pray for each other, leading and discipling as we are led and discipled by Jesus.

In community there is a dynamic flow of coming in and going out – the life of God coming in and the life of God flowing out.  Throughout the history of God’s people there was a gathering together and then a going out.  In the same way that God’s Spirit and life come to make it’s dwelling place in us and then must be shared and flows from us to each other; so do we come to gather together to share that life and then we must journey out and share the life of Jesus in the world.  We have been found by an incredible freedom – Jesus!

The Dwelling place invites you to commune with them or reach out to us and we will come commune with you…
