Thanks for being curious about who we are and how we come together to live out our faith. Below are some of the common questions people ask. If you have questions that aren’t answered here, please let us know on our contact page.
What kind of church is The Dwelling Place?
Right now, we are a small church community that is meeting in a home. Our dream is to create a network of smaller communities within a larger community, dedicating ourselves to gathering both in homes to develop meaningful relationships while also coming together as a larger community in public spaces to celebrate what God is doing in our church community and in the city of Wilmington.
Are kids part of your Sunday gathering?
Several families in our community have children. They range from infants up to high schoolers. We value having children be part of our community and the interactions that our families can have alongside each other.
During the our study time, we have activities available for the children in a room adjacent to where the adults gather. The younger kids are often toddling around in our adult discussion. We know that they aren’t going to sit still and be perfectly quiet. We find the life they add to our discussion to be a blessing rather than a distraction.
What does your Sunday gathering look like?
Though we try to focus on being a very relational community, we do have some structure each week to make the most of our time together. We begin with a shared meal and reconnecting with each other. This is followed by a time of singing, directed study, dialogue, and prayer for each other. Each element of our gathering is a valuable time of exploring what it means to be a community of people longing to see the Kingdom of God at work in our world today.
Is The Dwelling Place connected to a denomination?
The Dwelling Place is a non-denominational church and is not corporately affiliated with any other institution. However, we view ourselves as dependent on the body of Christ and Christ Jesus as head of His church. We additionally, submit ourselves to a number of churches, ministries and people relationally for their support, participation and input. A few are listed below:
Maranatha Ministries Unlimited Higher Place Ministries
Eagles Nest Fellowship Pastor Bill Sammons
Elim Fellowship Creative Ministries
Kenny Davis Ministries Pastor Robbie Bridges
Ultimate Faith Church Pastor Tomothy Hutto
…and others.
