We received advise through StartCHURCH, a church planting services and resource firm, that it would be more advantageous for us to file for a change of name and for our 501c-3 corporate status with the IRS than to totally establish a new corporation as The Dwelling Place. If we established a separate and new corporation as The Dwelling Place then we would have to file for a dissolution of Maranatha Christian Fellowship. This would require a total shut down of Maranatha and a lot of work to bequeath all property and assets over to the new corporation as The Dwelling Place. StartCHURCH can handle all of the work for us, making this process much easier. They make sure all the proper forms, paperwork, and legal items are filed correctly. They also make the process quicker.
